Ramallah, September 2, 2025 – The Head of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, Minister Moayyad Shaaban, said that Israeli occupation forces and settlers carried out a total of 1,613 attacks during the past month of August, in a continuation of the ongoing terror campaign waged by the occupying power against the Palestinian people, their lands, and their property.
Shaaban explained in the Commission’s monthly report “Violations of the Occupation and Colonial Expansion Measures” that the occupation army carried out 1,182 attacks, while settlers committed 431 attacks. Most of these attacks were concentrated in the governorates of Ramallah (321 attacks), Nablus (274 attacks), and Hebron (220 attacks).
He pointed out that the attacks varied between armed assaults on Palestinian villages, the imposition of new facts on the ground, field executions, vandalism, land razing, tree uprooting, property seizures, closures, and checkpoints that sever Palestinian geographic continuity.
Two Palestinians Killed and 11,700 Trees Uprooted and Destroyed
Shaaban noted that the 431 settler attacks, among the peak levels of settler terrorism, mainly targeted Palestinian villages and Bedouin communities. These were concentrated in Ramallah (115 attacks), Nablus (77 attacks), Hebron (69 attacks), and both Jerusalem and Jericho (40 attacks each).
He explained that settler terror attacks led to the killing of two Palestinians in the villages of Aqraba and Duma, in the Nablus governorate: Ma’in Sobhi Dirieh from Aqraba and Thameen Khalil Dawabsheh from Duma, both killed in direct shootings by settlers.
In addition, settlers carried out 72 acts of vandalism and theft of Palestinian property, targeting vast areas of land. With the support of the Israeli army, settlers also uprooted, destroyed, and poisoned 11,700 trees, including 11,599 olive trees: 10,081 in Ramallah, 658 in Nablus, 400 in Jenin, 221 in Salfit, and 140 in Bethlehem.
Attempts to Establish 18 New Settlement Outposts
Shaaban pointed out that settlers attempted to establish 18 new settlement outposts in August, mostly agricultural and pastoral in nature. These attempts included six in Ramallah, four in Nablus, three in Hebron, two in Bethlehem, and one each in Jenin, Qalqilya, and Jericho.
He stressed that the recent surge in outpost construction attempts could not have happened without explicit political instructions from Israel’s leadership aimed at imposing new facts on the ground and further fragmenting Palestinian geography. Settlers create these changes, while the official Israeli establishment later formalizes, legalizes, and upgrades them into recognized settlements receiving full services.
Seizure of 45 Dunams of Palestinian Land
Shaaban said that in August the occupation authorities seized a total of 45 dunams of Palestinian land through four military seizure orders aimed at creating a buffer zone around the settlement of Eli Zahav on lands of Deir Ballut in Salfit governorate. Two other orders targeted lands in Deir Istiya (Salfit) for settlement road construction, and another order targeted lands in Tubas governorate (Tammun town) for a new military post.
Demolition of 125 Structures and 21 New Demolition Notices
According to Shaaban, occupation authorities carried out 57 demolitions, destroying 125 Palestinian structures: 39 inhabited homes, 3 uninhabited homes, 52 agricultural facilities, 20 sources of livelihood, among others. Demolitions were concentrated in Tubas (44 structures), Jerusalem (23), and Hebron (20).
He added that occupation authorities also issued 21 demolition notices, continuing their campaign to suffocate Palestinian construction and natural growth in villages and towns. Notices were concentrated in Jerusalem (10), Bethlehem (5), Nablus (2), Qalqilya (2), Jenin (1), and Hebron (1).
31 Settlement Master Plans Under Review
Shaaban added that Israeli planning authorities reviewed 31 settlement master plans in August, including 27 for West Bank settlements and 4 within Jerusalem’s municipal boundaries.
He explained that the authorities approved 15 plans for West Bank settlements and deposited 12 more for future approval, amounting to the construction of 4,492 new settlement units and the depositing of 2,328 additional units, covering 2,594 dunams of Palestinian land.
Meanwhile, the Jerusalem Municipality approved one plan and deposited three more for later approval, providing for 229 new settlement units but no immediate approvals. These targeted an area of 9,443 dunams of Palestinian land.
